Alice Johanna Lenhart Oswald, 94, of Essexville, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, was born into eternal life on the morning of Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Alice was born in Bay City on April 30, 1920, the daughter of the late William and May (Claerhout) Jacobs. She was united in marriage to Thomas F. Lenhart, who preceded her in death in 1966. Alice enjoyed playing cards, dancing, bowling, spending time with her family, as well as being active with the Eagles Aerie 1010 for over thirty-five years. Left to cherish her memory are her children, JoAnn and husband, Ralph Gerzeski, Thomas W. “Butch” and wife, Suzette Lenhart and Jerry and wife, Mary Lenhart. Alice was the loving grandmother of Wayne Savage, Jr. and his wife, Laurie, Sharon and husband, Jeff Eilf, Trisha and husband, Matt Hartt, Steven and wife, Tammy Lenhart, Pamela and husband, Rick Kelley and Scott and wife, Barb Lenhart and the loving great-grandma of eleven. Also surviving are her brothers, Elmer and wife, Bernadine Jacobs and William Jacobs, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Alice was welcomed home to heaven by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Wayne Savage; five brothers, Emil, Clarence, Raymond, Donald and Harold Jacobs; sister, Charlotte Mavis and special friend, Fred Youngs. Alice’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 9:00 AM until her 10:00 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist), 614 Pine St., Essexville. Alice’s Family,
I share your loss. I met Alice in the late 1980s when she and Fred took a trip out east. From that time forward each time I was with Alice and Fred the same Alice showed up. Alice was an independent person who always cared how you were doing, what you were up to and how your family was doing. She was never at a loss for words. Lynne and I have pleasant memories from the later years when we would drive to Bay City and add ourselves to the Sunday morning breakfast group and try to keep all of the who is doing what conversations connected to the right family members. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you cope with the loss of this special person.
