September 9, 1932 ~ March 3, 2016
Beatrice Ontiveros Zavala, 83, of Bay City, our caring, loving, and devoted mom, "Gramma Bea," sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on the afternoon of Thursday, March 3, 2016 at The Carriage House. Bea was born in Rockdale, Texas on September 9, 1932, the daughter of the late Guadalupe and Enriqueta (Jimenez) Ontiveros. While working in the cotton fields, Bea met Jesus Zavala, Sr. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage at the age of 16 in St. Joseph Church. After forty-nine years of marriage, Jesus preceded Bea in death. Known for always being busy and on the go, Bea was a dedicated and talented cook at St. Joseph School for many years. Bea loved each student as if they were her own, and in turn, Bea was loved deeply. Trips to bingo and the casino always brought great joy to Bea, along with gardening and playing cards with her family (for money). Bea's family was her world, and she will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered for many years to come. Left to cherish her memory are her seven children, Jesus Zavala, Jr. and wife, Katrina, Angelita Ramirez and husband, Ruben, Lillie Aguirre and husband, Rodolfo, Juan Zavala, Rosa Facundo, Joe Zavala, and Robert Zavala, all of Bay City. Gramma Bea's memory will live on in the hearts of her sixty-eight grand, great, and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Margarita Rodriguez of Lubbock, Texas, along with hundreds of extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Bea was welcomed home to heaven by a grandson, Ruben Ramirez, Jr.; brother, Guadalupe Marcelo Ontiveros, and her grandparents. Bea's family will be present to receive visitors on Monday, March 7, 2016 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Bea at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Tuesday, March 8, 2016, Bea will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. Joseph Church), 1005 Third St., Bay City, where visiting will continue from 9:00 AM until the time of her 10:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
