Boyd Jean Metiva

Boyd Jean "George" Metiva, 86, of Akron, our generous, stubborn, and loving defender, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on the morning of Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Carrie's Young at Heart. Boyd was born on October 14, 1930 to the late John and Evelyn (Ruppert) Metiva in Bay City, Michigan. After high school, Boyd went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. When Boyd came home from the Air Force he started working at Akron Grain Elevator and then later went on to work at Saginaw Steering Gear, where he retired from. Boyd was a dedicated member of Wisner United Methodist Church and involved in the Fairgrove VFW. He loved taking care of his cats, playing guitar, singing, listening to quartets, and playing tea time with his great niece. Boyd leaves to cherish his memory, siblings, Leroy (Madylin) Metiva, Jean (Edward) Nellett, and Darlene Osburn, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Boyd was welcomed home to heaven by his brother, Clay Metiva; nephew, Kelly Nellett, and step-brother, Frank. Boyd's family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with 7:00 PM Military Honors at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Wednesday, November 23, 2016, Boyd will be taken to Wisner United Methodist Church, 5375 N. Vassar Rd., Akron Twp., where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until the time of his 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony. Reverend Evan Oh will officiate with interment to follow in Wisner Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Happy Hearts Feline Rescue. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
As a child, while he was hanging out with my folks, I would climb up on his lap, he would always sing to me, my song he called it, Cindy Oh Cindy Please Don’t Let Me Down, I just loved him!!!
