Caleb David Michael Kalinowski

caleb kalinowski

Caleb David Michael Kalinowski, 21, of Bay City, our kind, patriotic, and most wonderful son, brother, grandson, and loyal friend passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Caleb was born in Bay City on August 13, 2002, the son of Ronald Kalinowski and the former Lana Luptowski.

Caleb graduated from Bay City Western High School in 2020. His journey through life was defined by dedication and selflessness. He answered the call to serve his country and joined the ranks of the United States Marines and was positioned as a Military Police Officer, where he proudly protected the freedoms cherished by all. With unwavering commitment, he displayed the true spirit of a hero, leaving behind a legacy that will be forever honored and remembered. Caleb loved the brotherhood of the Marines and was affectionately known as “Ski” to many.

Known for his strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail, Caleb found solace in the art of welding. His skilled craftsmanship and dedication to his trade earned him a position at Arenac Casting. Upon return home from the Marines, Caleb worked for McNally Building, where his talents indelibly left their mark.

Caleb was a nature enthusiast who found peace and joy in the great outdoors. He was introduced to hunting by his dad, grandfather, uncle, and mentor Bill Duncil in Hemans, Michigan. He later started hunting in the Beaverton area. Caleb was an avid hunter and a fisherman, and the outdoors truly was Caleb’s church. Caleb also enjoyed baseball and was a Detroit Tigers fan, through thick and thin. Caleb will forever be remembered for his dry, yet wonderful sense of humor.

Caleb leaves to carry on his legacy to his father, Ron Kalinowski; mother, Lana (Steve) Krakowski; younger twin sister, Caitlyn Kalinowski; sister, Jessica (Mike) Van Epps; grandparents, Dave & Ardis Luptowski and Mike & Kathy Kalinowski; his uncles and aunts, Ryan (Jennifer) Luptowski, and Lori (Bob) Johnston, along with many cousins and close friends.

Caleb’s family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 1:00 PM until Caleb’s 6:30 PM Military Honors & Life at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Candle 5I was blessed to have the honor and privilege working and being roommates with Ski. He quickly transitioned from being a coworker, to a friend to the brother he will forever remain. Words cannot begin to express the pain I feel, knowing his family, friends, fellow marines and I won’t be seeing him again until the lord calls us up. My lil brother lost his life way too soon. I love you buddy, till we meet again.

  2. Sending prayers for strength, comfort and understanding to all of Caleb’s family and friends. The Beyett’s

  3. Candle 2Caleb was a great man to know, he was always a guy you can count on when someone needs help, willing to go along on an adventure, or just to play some cards. When we look upon Heaven’s Scenes, we will see Caleb alongside the other great Marines guarding the streets of Heaven.

  4. Candle 2I had the privilege of meeting ski while training in Missouri, we quickly started talking and when I found someone who was as interested in the outdoors as I was we quickly became brothers. He was a great friend but a even better brother from the long walks on the big piney river, catching small mouth to ripping catfish out of ponds we had some of the greatest memories that I hold very tight. He was always trust worthy and I respect him for that. My condolences go out to all family and friends I cannot fathom everyone’s pain.
Till we meet again brother, save some fish to catch and deer to hunt for the rest of us in heaven ski. Love you man

  5. I went to school with Caleb back in the day and was always a good guy to be around. My prayers and thoughts are you with you all.

    Jack O’Brien

  6. Candle 5I remember talking with him about going in the army. I was texting him on snapchat we should both go in the marines. He ended up listening to what I told him but it was his decision. I never forced him. But glad he made the move. Very unfortunate that this happened.

  7. I am so sorry for your loss, your son was my grandsons best friend out in California and Ben and his wife considered him family and are heart broken. God bless you all my prayers go out to you and your family, pray God gives you peace. I know he touched many lives and will be so missed there and in California. God be with you.

  8. My heart goes out to Caleb’s family, especially Caitlyn and Lana whom I met while coaching Caleb and Caitlyn in Little League. Caleb was just an absolute great kid and joy to coach. Always quiet, polite, hardworking and a perfect teammate. I recently found out I actually work with Jessica and through our conversations it brought back all the fun memories. Caleb was taken way too soon but know that he definitely made a mark. Best wishes!

  9. Candle 2Dear Lana and Family,
My heart is breaking for you all and I am so sorry for your loss. I wish there were words to comfort you through this…
