RICHNAK, Catherine Elizabeth - of Merrill, age 82, died Friday, April 7, 2017. Catherine was born November 9, 1934 in Hemlock to the late Theodore and Mabel (Smith) Doyle and was a resident of Merrill for 60 years. She married Edward Richnak on July 9, 1955. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2005. Mrs. Richnak retired from Secretary of the State office with 30 years seniority. She was a member of St. Patrick Ryan Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was active in many church functions. Catherine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, being with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and family. Surviving are: Daughter, Cheryl (George) Salmer of Merrill; Son, Thomas Richnak of Merrill; Grandchildren: Stacey (Chris) Brown of Sanford, Stephanie Salmer of Merrill, Ashley Vanderwall of Hemlock, Ty (Ashley) Lednicky of Merrill, Chad Richnak of Merrill, Jamie (Kristian) Schroeder of CO; 10 Great Grandchildren; Sisters: Jean (Dale) Mikolaiczik of Saginaw, Barb Caulfield of Au Gres; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: Son, Michael Richnak in 1993; Grandson, Eric Richnak in 2000; Brother, Dale Doyle; Daughter-in-law, Tracey Richnak in 2010. Fr. Dennis Kucharczyk will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at St. Patrick Ryan Catholic Church, 4708 N. Meridian Rd. in Merrill. Burial to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Rd (S-M47) on Monday from 2-8PM where a Vigil Service will be held at 7 PM.   3. Dear Cheryl,George , Tom and the entire family of Catherine. I am so very sorry for your loss. I will never forget working with your mom in PT at HealthSource. We had a lot of laughs and we shed tears together. She was quite a fire cracker !! and worked very hard to get back home. Looks like God had other plans and she is now without limitations. She has rejoined the love of her life and other family in Heaven. It was a honor to have been her therapist. Catherine was blessed to have the loving care and family support throughout all of her trials and tribulations.

  5. Tom and Cheryle, you guys know how special Catherine was. The wake of friends her and Ed left behind was huge. Great Parents Had Great Kids. She always made you feel like you were her best friend when you ran into her. So sorry for your loss, but she has a special place in heaven with her loved ones. Catherine will be missed but never forgotten.
