Charles Edward Sansburn, 60, of Essexville, our devoted, hardworking and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Sunday, October 20, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region. Charlie was born in Bay City on December 19, 1952, the son of the late Gerald and Alice (Ryers) Sansburn. He graduated with the Class of 1971 from Garber and was united in marriage to the former Jacqueline "Jacky" Wieland on November 17, 1973. After thirty years of dedicated service, Charlie retired from AT & T as a large business technician. Charlie was extremely devoted to the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Scoutmaster of Troop 101 in Essexville, member of the Society of George, Order of the Arrow Brotherhood, Silver Beaver Award Recipient, United Methodist Cross and Flame Recipient and Essexville Man of the Year in 1998. He was a faithful member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, where he held various positions including treasurer of the United Methodist Men's District. Charlie also stayed active with the Essexville Food Pantry and the Humane Society of Bay County, where he helped clean and maintain the dog park at the Bay County Fairgrounds. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends, both two-legged and four. Charlie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of nearly forty years, Jacqueline "Jacky" and sons, Jason and wife, Tammy Sansburn and Eric and wife, Tara Sansburn. He was the loving Papa of Julie, Troy, Lisa, Johnathon, Ayden, Kylin and great-Papa of Donte Hill. Also surviving are his brothers, Thomas G. Sansburn and William L. and wife, Joy Sansburn; sisters-in-law, Judy and husband, Joe Fleming, Kay Joseph and Joanne Penzien-MacDonald and husband, Milton, along with his brother-in-law, Jack Gies and several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Charlie was welcomed home to heaven by his sisters-in-law, Pat Sansburn and Pat Gies, along with his brother-in-law, Ben Joseph. Charlie's family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until Charlie's 10:00 a.m. Funeral Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Pastor Joe Atchinson will officiate with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Charlie may be directed to the Humane Society of Bay County, St. Luke's United Methodist Church or the Boy Scouts of America.
