David Russell Gomez, Jr., affectionately known by many as “Gomer” passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 22, 2015. David was born in Bay City on June 30, 1991, the son of David Gomez, Sr. and Kathleen Shepard, who survive. He was a 2010 graduate of Bay City Central High School, where he was an excellent basketball player and participated in football and track. He went on to work as a custodian at McLaren Bay Region. David will forever be remembered for his easy going personality, outgoing ways and wonderful sense of humor. In addition to his parents, he will remain forever in the heart of his son, the light of his life, Liam Jeffrey Gomez. Also surviving is his wife, Jessica Meyer Gomez; siblings, Julia Shepard and Justin Shepard; loving grandparents, Ronald and Suzanne Gillis and Art and Linda Shepard; great-grandparents, Elaine Morse and Harold Badgerow, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Gomez, Sr. David’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 11:00 AM until the time of his 12:00 Noon Funeral Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Ruth Gomez will officiate and interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to 1st State Bank to establish an educational fund for Liam (please make checks payable to Liam Gomez).
