Wintermeyer, Dean E. Saginaw Township, MI Passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 at the Cartwright Care Center. Age 57 years. Dean Elliot Wintermeyer was born Feb. 9, 1954 in Saginaw to Charles and Donna (Strachan) Wintermeyer. He worked for General Motors and Delphi, retiring in 2000. Dean owned and operated Dean O’s Rug Cleaning Services for several years. Dean was a member of the Oscoda Eagles 4237, the Moose Lodge of Florida, and the VFW Post 9528. He loved the water and was an excellent swimmer and water skier in his youth. He loved boating and was an avid fisherman, enjoying the sport on the AuSable River during the summers. He and Diane took many wonderful trips to Florida every winter. Dean had a wonderful sense of humor and was a kind and generous person. He loved animals and will be missed by his loyal dog Miss Bugsy Mae. Surviving are his loving and devoted companion Diane Smith, his mother Donna Wintermeyer, his son Matthew Wintermeyer, his brother Mark (Mary Lynn) Wintermeyer, Diane Smith’s family; Jimmy, Misty and Zander, his aunts Nancy (Robert) Kozak, Jean Johnson, Dee Strachan, Uncle Charles Torongo, nieces Lauren and Kerry Wintermeyer, special cousins Connie Torongo, many other cousins and friends, and two step daughters and his ex-wife. Dean was predeceased by his father Charles Wintermeyer, grandparents Henry and Iva Wintermeyer and Stanley and Beatrice Strachan, Aunt Shirley Torongo, uncles William Strachan and Gary Johnson, and nephew Elliott John Wintermeyer. Funeral service will take place 11AM Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland RD (S-M47). Rev C.W. Weis will officiate with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM, and on Friday one hour before the funeral. Memorial offerings are suggested to the American Heart Association, or the American Lung Association of Michigan.
