French, Donald E. Bridgeport Township, Michigan Passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 13, 2010. Age 69 years. Donald Edwin French was born December 26, 1940 in Saginaw to Byron and Margaret (Zorn) French. He married Dorothy Dennis in Pontiac, Michigan on June 18, 1966. They shared 43 years together. She survives him. Mr. French served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bridgeport. Don worked for General Motors, and was a member of UAW Local 699. Surviving beside his wife Dorothy, he leaves 2 daughters and 2 sons; Diane (Marcos) Martinez, Denise Gates, Donald (Candice) French, David (Cassandra) French, 15 grandchildren, his sister Lorraine Curtis, and his brother John (Norma) French, and many other loving family members and friends. Don was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Joan Kern and Barbara Reisig. Funeral service will take place 4:00 PM Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Rd (South M-47). Pastor Scott Cowling will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of service at 4PM. The interment will take place at 10AM Thursday, February 18th at Oakwood Cemetery. Military honors under the auspices of American legion Post 439 will be observed at the cemetery on Thursday.
