Edward Daniel Dittmer, 80, of Essexville/Hampton Twp., our fun and friendly husband and best friend, father, and grandfather passed away on the morning of Monday, August 21, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region. Eddie was born in Bay City on April 3, 1937, the son of the late Eugene and Alice (Stachowiak) Dittmer. He was united in marriage to the former Ann Froncek on October 20, 1962. Eddie proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Throughout life, Eddie was known for his love of hunting (especially deer and bear), along with golfing. After 30 years of service, Eddie retired from General Motors, where he worked as a foreman and purchasing agent. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of nearly 55 years, Ann and their daughter, Melissa. He was the loving grandfather of Austin and Tyler and will be deeply missed by his many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Dittmer and many in-laws. Eddie’s family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 1:00 PM until the time of Eddie’s 6:00 PM Tribute Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Private interment will be held in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Garber High School Athletics, Brian’s House, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
