Passed away peacefully Friday November 16, 2012 at Luther Manor surrounded by his family. Age 85 years. Edward Lewis Griffor was born June 4, 1927 in Saginaw to the late Joseph and Hazel (Duquette) Griffor. He married Jean Lamblin March 15, 1957. She survives him and they shared 55 years of marriage together. Edward worked for the Saginaw Board of Education as a custodian for 19 years before retiring in 1989. Edward enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his garage, fishing, feeding the squirrels, watching wrestling, and listening to country music, especially Johnny Cash. Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Edward (Penny) Griffor, Jerry Griffor, Eugene (Valary) Griffor, and Clarence (Tina ) Griffor; two daughters, Catherine Griffor and Penny (DeVern) Cole all of Saginaw; 16 grandchildren, Edward Griffor, Nicole Ezell, Robert Griffor, Latoya Griffor, Devonda Cole, Andrea Griffor, Kayla Griffor, Colton Griffor, Makenzie Griffor, and Mia Griffor all of Saginaw, Ashley Booth and Rebecca Booth both of Oakley, Tiffany Griffor of Lincoln, Nebraska, Brittany Cole of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Jannette and Christopher Griffor; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Huggard of St. Charles and Elaine Steiger of Oxford; and many other family members and friends, including special friend Jay Wellman. Edward was predeceased by two sons, Joseph Griffor and infant William Griffor; one daughter Diane Griffor; his mother- and father-in-law Herman and Elizabeth Lamblin; and five sisters Eleanor White, Thelma Barden, Margaret Smith, Arlene Staib, and Irma Wilson. The family would like to thank Luther Manor, Hospice of Michigan, and Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home. They would also like to especially thank Edward's sisters-in-law Charlene Lamblin and Janet Strudgeon.Funeral service will take place 11 AM Saturday November 24, 2012 at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Road (S. M-47). Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Friday from 2 PM to 8PM and on Saturday one hour before the service.
