Ella Jane Martini, 85, of Hampton Township, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Monday, August 12, 2013 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Ella Jane was born July 22, 1928 in Pinconning, the daughter of the late Frank and Ella (Boetefuer) Michalski. Raised on the family farm in Pinconning, Ella graduated from Pinconning High School, where she was active with their basketball and bowling teams and even contributed to their first yearbook. On October 6, 1951, Ella was united in marriage to Frederick C. Martini. A devoted and dedicated servant of the community, Ella retired from Hampton Township in 1988 after serving eighteen years as the township clerk and two years as a trustee. Ella Jane was instrumental in pioneering the rail trail, Hampton Happy Hearts Senior Center, along with many other great community resources. She was active with the Hampton Township Planning Commission, Bay Area Community Foundation, United Fund Allocation Board, East Central Michigan Planning and Development Commission and the Michigan Governmental Relations Commission. Ella Jane was a twenty year member of the library board and was instrumental in the planning of the Alice & Jack Wirt Public Library. She was the former president, treasurer and trustee of the Bay County Township Officers Association and served on both the Republican and Democratic Executive Boards. Ella Jane was a level two state assessor and proud member of Who's Who of American Women and the American Business Women's Association. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, enjoyed traveling, bingo and most of all, loved her family dearly. As the rock of the family, Ella Jane's hardworking, yet kind and gentle nature to those in need will live on for generations to come. Ella Jane is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Frederick C. Martini; loving children, Cynthia Sue Starkweather and James Frederick Martini and four grandsons, Christopher and wife, Krista Martini, Jason and wife, Amber Martini, Brandon Martini and Nathan Martini. She was the adoring great-grandma of Danna and Gabby Martini; Collette Curry and Dominic, Donovan, and Dylan Martini; and Mary, Michael, Nick and Christine Anthony. Also surviving are Ella Jane's daughter-in-law, Mary Martini; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hassen; nine nieces and nephews; special friends, Norine Fritz and Noreen Ballor and countless other friends. In addition to her parents, Ella was welcomed home to heaven by her son-in-law, James Starkweather; brother and sister-in-law, Frank "Junior" and Freida Michalski; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elaine and Bernhardt Heinrich and Ethel and Paul Gobrogge and brother-in-law, Donald Hassen. Ella Jane's family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her Memorial Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Rev. Leroy R. Westphal will officiate. A heartfelt thanks is extended to the staff of Heartland Hampton, Bay Medical Care Facility and McLaren Hospice for the compassionate care provided. Memorial Contributions in memory of Ella Jane may be directed to the Alice & Jack Wirt Public Library, 500 Center Ave., Bay City, MI. 48708 or Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 N.
