Emma M. Carigan

Passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011. Age 91 years. Emma Marie Buschke was born December 25, 1919 to Gustav and Ottillia (Sabgash) Buschke. She married Wilmer D. Carigan in 1938. He predeceased her in 2005. Mrs. Carigan was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeport and had worked as a cook at Buena Vista High School for ten years. Surviving are one son and two daughters; Dorothy (Marvin) Schreiber of Birch Run, Robert (Sally) Carigan of Saginaw, and Joanne (James) Neumann of Portage, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one brother Adolf (Ruth) Buschke, and one sister Ann Ortner.Emma was predeceased by her son William (and his wife Joyce), one granddaughter Deanna Schreiber, and five sisters.The family wishes to thank the aides and staff at Independence Village in Frankenmuth where Mrs. Carigan had resided.Funeral service will take place 11AM Monday, November 14, 2011 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 6065 King at Portsmouth Rds. Rev. Rachael Laughlin will officiate with interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Rd (S-M47) on Sunday from 2PM to 8PM, and at the church on Monday one hour before the funeral. Memorial offerings are suggested to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
