Evelyn Hilda (Stertz) Steudle

evelyn (stertz) steudle
Evelyn Hilda (Stertz) Steudle, 93, of Bay City, our happy, loving, and devoted mother, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on September 14, 2018 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Evie was born in Saginaw on June 4, 1925, the daughter of the late Henry and Pauline (Bender) Stertz. Evie graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1942, where she was very active in volleyball and basketball. After high school, Evie went to live with her aunt in Colorado where she worked as a Morse Code operator. She later moved back to Michigan and worked at the Temple Theater, was a cashier at Great Scott Foods, and a roller-skating instructor. Evie was a wonderful roller-skater – skating up until she was 70. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, was wonderful at crocheting, loved to go to the casino, made sure the house was immaculate, and was always up for a shopping trip. Evie loved her Detroit Tigers – she was their biggest fan! Above all, Evie will always be remembered for being the best Mom, Grandma, and Great-grandmother; she will be missed dearly. Evie leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Timothy (Susan) Steudle, Theresa Steudle, James Steudle, John (Cheryl) Steudle, Elizabeth (Mel) Svorinic, and Thomas Steudle; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Evie was welcomed home to heaven by her children, Joseph Steudle and Suzanne Diaz, along with her siblings, Henry, Olga, Katherine, Mary, and Pauline. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Evie’s family would like to give a special thanks to Bay Medical Care Facility – especially Rosa and Kim, for their wonderful care. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
