May 26, 1927 ~ December 19, 2013
Florence Evelyn Stachecki, our hard-working, proud and loving mother, grandmother and “Gigi” was born into eternal life on the morning of Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Crittenton Hospital, surrounded by her loving children. Evelyn was born in Mt. Clemens on May 26, 1927, the last of six girls to the late Adam and Boleslawa “Belle” (Rybicka) Lepkowski. She will always be remembered for her love of learning. In her younger years, Evelyn won the Detroit News Spelling Bee and forever cherished her Webster’s dictionary. Evelyn would go on to meet Raymond Stachecki. They dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on June 7, 1947 in St. Peter Church in Mt. Clemens. Their marriage was blessed with three children and countless memories. Sadly, after over fifty years of marriage, Raymond preceded Evelyn in death on August 4, 1998. Evelyn’s life was full of many trials and tribulations. A hardworking woman, Evelyn spent several years working for Hudson’s and Target. Always on the hunt for a bargain, Evelyn could often be found frequenting area garage sales. Her love of traveling and fashion, along with her feisty, yet determined ways will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come. She leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Craig R. and wife, Kathi Stachecki, Catherine G. Paklaian and Mark J. and wife, Kimberly Stachecki. She was the passionate grandma of Yvonne and husband, Saad Razook, Craig J. and wife, Sharon Stachecki, Adam J. Stachecki, Sara E. and husband, Kevin Vesci and Jonathan R. Paklaian. Evelyn was the loving Gigi (great grandma) of Jacob “J.C.” and Layla Razook and Makayla and Paityn Rose Stachecki. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Evelyn was welcomed home to heaven by her five sisters. Evelyn’s family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Scripture Service at Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (N. of 22 Mile Rd.), Shelby Twp. On Monday, December 23, 2013, Evelyn will be taken to St. Peter Church, 95 Market St., Mt. Clemens, where visiting will continue from 9:00 AM until her 9:30 AM Funeral Mass. Fr. Michael Cooney will officiate with cremation to follow. Evelyn will be laid to rest in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan or the Edelweiss Garden Club in Gaylord. Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
