August 21, 1926 ~ March 30, 2014
Frances Morand, 87, of Essexville, our caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was born into eternal life on the afternoon of Sunday, March 30, 2014. Fran was born in Omer on August 21, 1926, the daughter of the late John and Rose Ann (Muszakiewicz) Kowalczyk. She was united in marriage to Francis J. “Buzz” Morand, who preceded her in death on April 11, 1987. Fran worked for VacArt, Kinney Dairies, and General Motors until her retirement in 1987. Fran did it all. She worked, took great care of her family, and also took care of her mother for four years in her own home, prior to her mother’s death. She was an awesome cook and homemaker, and still managed to take time for fun. Fran loved spending time with Buzz and her family at the cottage they built together on the AuSable River, just outside of Mio. Fran's love and the way she cared for her family have created incredible memories that will live on in our hearts. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Andrea Studders of Bay City, Cheryl and husband, Calvin Hoerneman of Midland and Thomas Morand of Essexville. Frances also leaves behind her two granddaughters, Jennifer and husband, Trey Lee of Midland and Christie Hoerneman of Fredericksburg, VA.; her two great-grandsons, Brady and Carter Lee; sister-in-law, Virginia Lesperance, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Frances was welcomed home to heaven by her son, Richard Morand; son-in-law, Michael Studders and four siblings. Fran’s family will be present to receive visitors from 9:00 AM until the time of her 10:00 AM Memorial Liturgy on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 614 Pine St., Essexville. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate. Private entombment will be held in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Advantage or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Our family would like to express special thanks to Gloria from Hospice Advantage, Rebecka and staff at From The Heart Healthcare, and Sterling House of Brookdale, Bay City, all of whom have touched our lives because of the love, care, and concern they gave to our Mom. Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
