  1. Al, Ev and family. I am so very sorry for your loss. I am thankful to have had the chance to briefly renew our friendship the past couple of weeks. Gary’s future was bleak, but when he spoke about his children, he would get this big smile on his face and sat up a bit taller. He was so very proud of them and loved them deeply. I will miss that smile. Kathy Erndt

  2. I met Gary about a month ago and it has been my pleasure and my honor to have been his nurse while he battled a lot of demons within him and he fought them with all the strength he had. He was not a very open person yet through that tough exterior I was able to find a man with a heart of gold that didn’t want to impose on anyone. He was not without his vices, but at the end all he wanted was to have his family at his bedside and told his caregivers that he didn’t want to die alone.
He did not die alone for if neither myself nor his sister, brother-in-law and brother were not there he still had the Lord with him, for within his room was a Christmas tree that was so bright and beautiful and I’m sure full of memories that will last forever. May God bless all of Gary’s family and friends. Vickie Wagner RN – The Care Team Hospice

  3. Evelyn, Al and family: So sorry for your loss. Our thoughts, prayers and sympathy for all of you. I remember Gary the most from the time we when we were all younger which would be about 50 plus years ago. He was just that much older than we were and was a such a cool teenager. He didn’t have the time to deal with us ‘little kids’ but it was exciting to watch his coolness from afar. Cherie and Vic Davila, Saginaw MI

  4. Mr. & Mrs. Caspers, My prayers are with all of you. Janet and I chatted not long ago when she told me of Gary’s illness. I will always remember him as Janet’s big brother who didn’t pick on me (as opposed to Wayne and Jamie!) when he was around and I was spending time at your house. Love always,
    Shawna Westin Mathews
