Gertrude Ann Hilbrandt

HILBRANDT, Gertrude Ann - of Freeland, went to be with her Lord, Monday, February 6, 2017 at Covenant Health System. She was 79 years of age. Gertrude was born January 13, 1938 in Saginaw to the late Emil and Anna (Meisner) Wrobleski. She was a resident of Freeland most of her life. She was united in marriage to George Hilbrandt on November 30, 1957 at St. Peter Lutheran Church. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and Mary Martha and was very active in many of the church functions. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, flowers and gardening. She is survived by: Husband, George; Children: Victoria Mayeux (Michael Slayton) of Metairie, LA, Michael Hilbrandt of Freeland, David (Sarah) Hilbrandt of Fort Gratiot; Grandchildren: Scott, Melanie, Eric, Sydney and Mitchell; Twin Brother, Richard (Vera) Wrobleski of Sebewaing; Mother-in-law, Ruth Hilbrandt of Saginaw; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 half-brothers: Fred Steck, Bill Steck and Wally Steck. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 10, 2017 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Rd. in Hemlock. Rev. Dr. William Morris officiating. Burial to follow in Richland Lutheran Cemetery. Family will receive visitors on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Rd (S-M47), and at the church on Friday from 10 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church. George, Mike, Melanie, Scott, Dakota, I am so sorry to hear of Gert. She was a wonderful lady. She will be greatly missed. Sending my love and prayers. I will never forget her love for cooking and baking. She made some amazing donuts, and foods. Coming over to hang out with Mel, when we were growing up, the house always smelled so good. She was always making something!! Love you guys!!!
