Helen Mae Meyer

June 13, 2016
Helen Mae Meyer, 92, of Essexville, our gentle, humble, and most loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the evening of Monday, June 13, 2016 at The Carriage House. Helen was born in Holland on December 6, 1923, the daughter of the late William and Anne (Lundie) Reed. While at a wedding, she met Marten W. Meyer. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on February 2, 1946 in Petoskey. Sadly, he preceded her in death on August 6, 1999. Throughout life, Helen was known for her unwavering love for the Lord. Since 1951, she was a member of Essexville Baptist Community Church, where she found great joy in teaching adult bible study. She loved gardening, making jam, sewing, stamp collecting, and was known for making the best crescent rolls on earth. Helen was a scholar, a quiet lady, and had a servant's heart. She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memory are her five children, Marten (Sophia) Meyer of Saginaw, Carol (Donald) Van Haaren of Olivet, Rose (Patrick) Smith of Essexville, Nancy Meyer of Bay City, and Russell (Saundra) Meyer of Kenniwick, WA. She was the most loving and supportive grandmother of Nickolas (Amy) Meyer, Anthony (Allison) Meyer, Dr. Alexander (Jocelyn) Meyer, Thomas Van Haaren, Sarah (Jesse) Prins, Trisha (Tony Wade) Jones, Kristie Smith, Matthew (Emily Werth) Smith, Rebecca Smith, and Kasen Meyer. Also surviving are ten great-grandchildren, Macsen, Samuel, Thomas John, Tyler, Noah, Lauren, Eli, Lucas, Lillian, and Alaina; brother, Wayne Reed of Holland, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Helen was welcomed home to heaven by her brother, Warren. Helen's family will be present to receive visitors at her second home, Essexville Baptist Community Church, 1001 Main St., Essexville, on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 10:00 AM until the time of her 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony. Rev. Mark Montei will officiate with interment to follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to The Carriage House for their loving care. Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp.
