Jewell, Ira "Jack"Saginaw Township Passed away Saturday evening, March 24, 2012. Age 90 years. Ira Wilbur Jewell was born October 15, 1921 to Clarence Hunter and Sadie Florence (Morris) Jewell.He married Ida W. Hillert on March 24, 1945. She preceded him in death on March 21, 1999. Mr. Jewell was a past member of St. John Lutheran Church in Saginaw, and currently a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw. He was the Chief building inspector for the City of Saginaw, retiring in 1980. Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War Two, and the Korean War.Surviving are two sons and one daughter and their families; David (Kay) Jewell, Mark (Debra) Jewell, Susan (James) Kretchman, grandchildren; Stacey (Rev. Michael) Stahl, Angela (Jim) Merkiel, Erin Jewell, Jessica (Jacob) McConkie, Dr. Ashley (Calvin) Hansen, Sarah Kretchman, Daniel Kretchman, a sister-in-law Emma Sullivan, great grandchildren Jacob Merkiel, Alexa Merkiel, Chelsea Merkiel, Ainsley McConkie, Alannah Stahl, a brother Lewis Jewell, Sisters Helen Hoffner, Esther Hippensteel, Ann Roy, two sisters-in-law; Marie Hillert and Lu Hillert, and many other loving family members and friends. Jack was predeceased by his sister Joy Smith, five brothers Virgil, Russell, Lyle, Rev David and Rowan Jewell. Funeral and committal service will take place 11AM Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Trinity St. James Lutheran Church, 119 E. Munger Rd., Munger, MI. Rev. Michael G. Stahl will officiate. Interment will take place later at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Rd (S-M47) on Tuesday from 2PM to 8PM, and at the church one hour before the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings are suggested to Lutheran Homes of Michigan or Hospice of Hope.
