August 7, 1930 ~ April 11, 2016
Irene Jaynes, 85, of Essexville, our gentle, selfless, and devoted sister and aunt died on the morning of Monday, April 11, 2016 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Irene was born in Saginaw County on August 7, 1930, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Whitecastle) Meyer. She attended grade school in Wisner, and graduated high school from Akron-Fairgrove. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, her best friend, Calvin Jaynes, who preceded her in death in 1993. This year would have been their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary. Throughout life, Irene was a devoted Jehovah Witness and belonged to the Kingdom Hall on Kasemeyer in Bay City. Her career led her to become a skilled optical technician, crafting many glasses throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed everything the outdoors had to offer. Irene cherished time spent at her cabin in Mio where she loved to fish, hunt, pick huckleberries, snowmobile, and most of all, spend time with her nieces and nephews, who were like her own children. Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Ruth Irion, along with many nieces and nephews. Irene’s family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 10:00 AM until the time of her 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Interment will be held privately in Fremont Cemetery, Mayville. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.

Irene as though I did not know you I heard so many beautiful kind words of you from Kelsie who loved you dearly as of others. I hope you fly high in heaven and watch over your family members especially Kelsie during this hard time of grieving. PRAYERS and love to this family! -Julie
Dear Aunt Irene, it was amazing being able to grow up with you. Having both you and grandma was like a bonus. You always took care of us and took us to fun places. You made the best cookies I’ve ever had. I hope one day I can make them just as good as you did. Having you and grandma really was like living with Lucy and Ethel. Everyday was an adventure. I think I’m luckier then most to have had you growing up. I hope you can rest now. Please watch over us and keep us safe and strong. I love you more then words can describe. My guardian angle. Please give a hug and a kiss to uncle Cal for me.
We are so sorry for the loss of such an amazing woman! She became like family to us and we all adored her. She was such a sweet and caring lady, always smiling and was so kind and loving to those around her. It sure won’t be the same without her visits to Michigan. I’m pretty certain the dogs will miss her, too. Thank you for sharing her with us and to the Hogan’s for showing us what the love of family truly means. Rest in peace, Aunt Irene……until we meet again. :heartpulse:
