James Leonard Yagiela, 80, of Hampton Twp., our determined and hardworking husband, dad, and grandpa was born into eternal life on the morning of Sunday, July 17, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Bay City on November 5, 1935, the son of the late George and Anna (Sika) Yagiela. On December 7, 1968, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Mary Kunish. Jim was a focused and devoted farmer, and cherished his time hunting at the cabin in the Upper Peninsula, along with fishing locally. He was a parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish and will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered by his entire family for generations to come. Jim leaves to carry on his legacy, his loving wife of forty-seven years, Mary and their children, Steven (Wendy) Yagiela, Eric (Marsha) Yagiela, Christopher (Megan) Yagiela; grandchildren, Alec, Shae, Kyle, Connor, Lauren, and his sister-in-law, JoAnn Yagiela. He will remain alive in the hearts of his special nephew, Paul Yagiela, and special friends, Delbert Benson, Jim VanSumeren, Jerry Mahoney, Larry “Mouse” Horner, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was welcomed home to heaven by his siblings, Rose (John) Adamowski, Antoinette “Toni” (Edward) Kowalski, Mary Jane (Tim) Socia, John (Maureen) Yagiela, Louis Yagiela, and Joseph Yagiela. Private arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp.
