Janet Marie Ligney

janet ligney
Janet Marie Ligney, 75, of Essexville, our kind, considerate, fun-loving, and most generous wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on the evening of Sunday, December 23, 2018 at her home, under the care of her loving family after a courageous nine-year battle with cancer. Jan was born in Bay City on May 21, 1943, the daughter of the late George & Marie (Schubert) Karnath. She was united in marriage on October 16, 1959 to James Ligney, who she met when he was 15 years old working his paper route. Jan was a wonderful stay-at-home mother, who raised her three wonderful sons, Mike, Tim, and Kevin. She was the most wonderful grandma of Ashley, the light of her life, who she also helped to raise. Jan loved to go camping with her family and friends; she loved her flowers and listening to music, especially oldies and Elvis – the louder, the better! Her backyard swing was her peaceful place, where she enjoyed relaxing. Family always came first with Jan, seconded by her friends. Jan’s life of love was a true example of giving more than receiving; she will be deeply missed, yet lovingly remembered for years to come. Jan leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Jim and three sons: Mike Ligney (Sandy), Tim Ligney (Lori), and Kevin Ligney (Karen); granddaughter, Ashley Ligney (Cody); siblings, Kathy Moore, Ken Karnath  and Linda Karnath; sisters-in-law, Maureen and Margie Ligney; brother-in-law, Larry (Vickie) Ligney, along with her dear friend and next door neighbor, JoAnn Priest; beloved bird, Sunny, and special granddog, Ella. In addition to her parents, Jan was welcomed home to heaven by her father and mother-in-law, Joseph & Louise Ligney; niece, Shelly Moore, and brother-in-law, Virgil “Blue” Moore. Jan’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 10:00 AM until Jan’s 11:00 AM Life Celebration at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Private inurnment will be held in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. 3. I will be praying for the family and sad for the loss of a very special lady. She was a good neighbor and loved her sense of humor. May Janet rest in peace.

  4. I’m very sorry for the loss of Janet. I understand how hard it is to lose someone you love. Something that always brings me comfort and a real hope is the promise found in the Bible at John 5:28 29: “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” Soon you will have the chance to welcome Janet back to life in a beautiful new paradise earth in which God promises to “swallow up death forever” and “he will wipe every tear from their face, and death will be no more.” (Revelation 21:4; Isaiah 25:8; 2 Peter 3:13) Until then, may you find great comfort in the “God of all comfort,” Jehovah God, and in his wonderful future promises that are guaranteed. Again, my deepest condolences go out to your family during this very difficult time.

  5. Dear Ligney family, I’m so sorry for your loss. She sounds like she was a wonderful person, mother, and grandmother. Sandy has told me how she has suffered with cancer for so long. May you rest in peace Mrs. Ligney.
