Joan Catherine Faustin

July 21, 2018
Joan Catherine Faustin, 78, of Hampton Twp., our loving, selfless, and most generous mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on the afternoon of Saturday, July 21, 2018 at her home with her children and family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Joan was born in Hampton Twp. on December 2, 1939, the daughter of the late Leo and Margaret (Mooren) Badour, Sr. On December 26, 1955, Joan met an army soldier who was home on leave by the name of Robert John Faustin. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on September 6, 1958. After fifty-six years of devoted marriage, Robert preceded Joan in death on December 21, 2014. Throughout life, Joan was known for her beautiful flower garden. Always putting others before herself, Joan’s love for her family was unwavering and she was always willing to help anyone in need. In 2003, Joan retired from Essexville-Hampton Public Schools, where she was a bus driver for several years. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, and trying her luck on the slot machines. Joan’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her four children, Barbara and husband, Gary Socia, Lorraine and husband, Joe Hohulin, Nancy Faustin and Ken Reinhardt, and William and wife, Jennifer Faustin. Also surviving are Joan’s grandchildren, Matthew Faustin and Colin Socia; great-granddaughter, Karleigh; her sister, Emma Gohr, along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Joan was welcomed home to heaven by her two grandsons, Tyler and Austin Socia; siblings, Francis Badour, Marion VanOchten, Margaret Strye, Leo “Pete” Badour, Jr., Anthony “Tony” Badour; infant brother, Benjamin Badour, and many in-laws. Joan’s family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Joan at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Essexville, MI 48732. On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, Joan will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 9:00 AM until Joan’s 10:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, where Joan was a faithful parishioner.
