Jody Rae McMullen, 58, of Bay City, our loving and strong wife, mother, sister, aunt, and beloved friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Friday, April 15, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region with family by her side. Jody was born in Newport, Rhode Island on November 28, 1957, the daughter of Howard and Shirley (Holowetz) McCracken. She graduated from Bay City Central with the Class of 1975, went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Private Lance Corporal, and was a member of the Marine Corps League. While shopping for shoes, she met Kevin McMullen, an employee. The following day, Kevin and Jody had their first date and were married exactly two years later on August 22, 1987 in St. Hyacinth Church. Jody retired from the City of Bay City after many years of service with both the police department, along with building and code enforcement. She had a true love for animals, but most of all, she had an unwavering love for her family. Jody loved to read and was truly at peace when spending time outdoors. This love for the outdoors led to a natural love of camping and canoeing, especially at Round Lake. Jody also enjoyed gardening, snowmobiling, and was an accomplished SCUBA diver. Jody leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Kevin McMullen. She was the very proud, supportive, and unconditional loving mother of Sara McMullen. Jody is also survived by her mother, Shirley McCracken; sister, Kim Henderson; in-laws, Howard (Sally) McMullen, Kathy Jacobs, Bryan (Sue) McMullen, Todd (Lori) McMullen; best friends, Barb Bennett and Tammy Childs, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was welcomed home to heaven by her father, Howard McCracken and father and mother-in-law, Howard and Rita McMullen. Jody's family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 9:00 AM until the time of her 10:00 AM Memorial Liturgy at St. Catherine of Siena Parish (St. Vincent de Paul Church), 2956 E. North Union Rd., Bay City. Fr. John Sarge and Sr. Virginia Scally, SNDdeN will officiate over the funeral rites. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of McLaren Bay Region for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions in memory of Jody may be directed to the Humane Society of Bay County or the Marine Corps League. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
