John F. Slachta

Passed away Saturday December 28, 2013. Age 77 years. John F. Slachta was born April 26, 1936 in Saginaw to the late John and Ruth (Brown) Slachta. He retired from Bay Metro Transit in 1989. John loved his 2010 Camaro and watching NASCAR racing. Surviving are his four children; Suzanne K. Slachta-Hall, Sandra D. (Mark) Kersten, Brian T. (Kerri) Slachta, and Timothy A. Slachta, and their mother Marjorie J. Slachta. Also surviving are John's fiance Wylene Goodroe and her three children; Jacob (Michelle) Goodroe, Ashley Goodroe, and Jonathon (fiance Rachael Horn) Goodroe, seven grandchildren; Timothy Hall, Jordan, Holly, and Linda Kersten, Kollin and Dylan Slachta, and Channing Slachta. John was predeceased by two sons, John E. Slachta and Scott L. Slachta, and one brother Gene Slachta. Funeral service will take place 1:00 PM Thursday January 2, 2014 at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Road (S. M-47). Pastor Jera Lee Mania will officiate with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
