Joseph Schmidt, 76, of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Detroit and Bay City, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away on Thursday, April 21, with his family by his side. While in the police force Joe taught criminal justice at Henry Ford Community College. After a lengthy career in the law enforcement, Joe retired as a Sergeant from the Detroit Police Department. Sorry for your lose. I will always remember what a great guy Joe was and I really enjoyed being his friend and sharing in the good times and laughs we had as kids.
In order to leave a lasting mark on this small part of eternity that we know as a life span,
one must reveal the Creator to the people that he influences. The straight path that Uncle Joe walked as he acknowledged God in all his ways was a testimony that challenged me (Prov. 3:6). The way that he studied, memorized and applied the Word of God made every discussion a 3-way conversation; because our Lord was present. In His presence is fulness of joy (Ps. 16:11).
I will always be grateful how Uncle Joe and Aunt Pat blessed my life with prayer and support as I was prepairing my life for the service that was to come. The blessing and legacy of my family is an extension of yours.
In loosing a wonderful husband and father like this, you all are feeling pain that you could never have imagined. the air has been knocked out of you. The loss is a robbery that you could never have prepared for. All I can offer is this: I will pray that you all will have God’s peace during every step of your grief. I will pray that He reveals all His hope, loving kindness, and comfort. I am so very sorry for your loss.
