Joyce A. O'Laughlin

joyce o'laughlin
Joyce Alene O'Laughlin, 76, of Bay City, our loving mother and grandmother was born into eternal life on the morning of Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the home of Cheryl Burke, her cousin and caregiver in Auburn after a courageous battle with cancer. Joyce was born in Jackson on November 16, 1938, the daughter of the late Raymond and Frances (Dorian) Peplinski. Throughout life, she was known for her vivacious personality and no filter. Joyce enjoyed chatting on the phone each day with her friends and family. She worked for many years as a beautician, retired from IGA and enjoyed time spent with her friends at the Eagles #1010 and Amvets Post 22. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Patrick and wife, Patty McIver and Michael and wife, Shannon McIver. Joyce was the fun and loving "Gramma O" of Shannon McIver-Mueller and her husband, Matthew Mueller, Lance McIver and his girlfriend, Dana Schwandt and Brooks and Nikia McIver. She is also survived by her only great-grandson, Benjamin Patrick Mueller. In addition to her parents, Joyce was welcomed home to heaven by her husband, John O'Laughlin; father of her children, Carl McIver; brother, Raymond "Gene" "Pep" Peplinski, along with her special cousin and friend, Kathy Hermatz Hall. Joyce's family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 2:00 PM until the time of her 7:00 PM Celebration of Life at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to McLaren Hospice for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Joyce was my partner in crime. We had many great times together, getting our nails done, going to lunch and the many cocktails we shared. We also had a few tiffs, but always made up and forgot them. I will miss her smiling face when she came out the door and we were on our way. She also always told you what she thought, even if you didn’t want to hear it, but that was Joyce. Rest in Peace my friend, I’ll miss you always and forever.

  2. I’ll never forget when Don & I went to the club one afternoon on the Harley and Joyce put my helmet on and said “come on Don, I’m ready to go!” She loved that bike and we loved her. We will miss you Joyce, very much!

  3. Dear Family and Friends of Joyce
Joyce was always a loving and caring person to me personally. I really enjoyed being in her presence. She always brought a smile to my face. She was kind, and she will be missed.
    Joanne and Floyd Hart

  4. Please accept our deepest sympathy
Even though you’ve had some time to prepare for this loss, it is still difficult to accept
May you find comfort through memories of the wonderful person that Joyce was.

  5. My deepest sympathy to the whole family. Joyce was a spitfire of a gal with a great personality and kind heart. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Lynn Fierens Rivard
