LeRoy W. Knierim

Passed away Sunday January 13, 2013. Age 92 years. LeRoy "Roy" William Knierim was born May 29, 1920 in Toledo, Ohio to the late William and Bertha (Hill) Knierim. He married Linda F. Haas April 9, 1944. She predeceased him December 6, 2007. Roy retired from supervision at General Motors after 38 years of service. He loved his family, hunting, fly fishing, gardening and yard work. Surviving are two daughters and one son, Lona (Brian) McLuckie, Lori (John) Sliva, and Rick Knierim; three grandchildren, Scott Knierim, Andrew McLuckie, and Desiree Knierim. Roy was predeceased by five siblings, Velma, Opal, Fern, Hal, and Dorothy.Funeral service will take place 11AM Thursday January 17, 2013 at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Rd. (S. M-47). Chaplain Jeannie LaPine will officiate with entombment to follow at Oakwood Mausoleum. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 Noon-3PM and 5PM-8PM, and on Thursday one hour before the service. Memorial offerings are suggested to the Michigan Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society. Floral tributes are also welcome.
