Lydia S. Ullrich

ULLRICH, Lydia S. - of Saginaw, age 97, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Ingham County Medical Care Facility. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service in memory of Lydia will be held 11AM Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Reitz-Herzberg Funeral Home. Inurnment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or the ICMCF Foundation. Lydia was born on March 3, 1920 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Friedrich and Catherine (Weber) Sturtz. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1939. Lydia married Donald Ullrich on March 7, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1979. Lydia retired as a cook from Saginaw Township Schools in 2000 with 30 years of service. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church for 60 years. Lydia was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to volunteer at the Bethesda Thrift Shop, election polls, church, and at Covenant Hospital. Lydia also enjoyed swimming, bike riding, crocheting, knitting, and working in her yard. In her younger years she was very involved in high school athletics. Surviving are: Children: David (Debra) Ullrich, Dale (Laura) Ullrich, Donna Ullrich, and Dennis (Michelle) Ullrich; Grandchildren, Nathan Ullrich, Jacob Ullrich, Sarah Ullrich, Sam Ullrich, Ed Ullrich, Danielle Ullrich, and Ronald Ullrich; Great grandchildren, David Ullrich and Andrew Ullrich. She was also preceded in death by her son, Donald Ullrich and her 8 siblings.
