Marilyn Thompson Draper

Marilyn Kae (Thompson) Draper, 83, of Bay City, our kind, gentle, and generous mother passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, September 11, 2017 at Brookdale – Bay City. Marilyn was born in New Richmond, Wisconsin on December 7, 1933, the daughter of the late Emmett and Minnie (Rulien) Baker. While playing cards, she happened to be critiqued by a gentlemen named Roger Thompson. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 27, 1956 in Minneapolis. Sadly, Roger preceded Marilyn in death on April 19, 1980. She later was united in marriage to George Draper in 1983. George also preceded Marilyn in death in 1997. Throughout life, Marilyn was known for her generous and giving nature. She was a dedicated volunteer at Delta College and donated to many charities. She also enjoyed playing bridge and traveling. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two sons: Bruce Thompson and Stephen Thompson, along with her sister, Carolyn Morrisette. In addition to her parents and her husbands, Marilyn was preceded in death by her two brothers, Bill Baker and Bob Baker. Marilyn’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Marilyn will be laid to rest in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, St. Paul, Minnesota. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
