Mary Helen Davidson, 75, of Essexville, our compassionate, supportive, and loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Thursday, March 31, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region. Mary was born in Barry County, Michigan on May 8, 1940, the daughter of the late Seward and Helen (Beck) Walton. Mary graduated from Fairgrove High School and furthered her studies at Central Michigan University. While at Central Michigan, Mary met Robert Wayne Davidson. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on February 11, 1961. Mary retired after many years of service as a librarian with John Glenn High School, St. John's School, and the Bay County Library System. Mary's love for the Lord and her faith were the foundation for her life. She was raised in the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which eventually merged to become the United Methodist Church; a heritage Mary was truly proud of. She was a dedicated member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Mary was very active at both the local district and conference level of the United Methodist Women, holding many offices and winning Woman of the Year, along with several 5-Star Awards. Known for her selfless ways, Mary found joy in volunteer service and was a former volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, The Bay County Historical Society, and The Bay City Players. She belonged to the "Stamping Divas" and had a true love for scrapbooking, reading, and creative card making. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping and traveling. Mary's positive ways, wonderful sense of humor, and dedication to all who knew and loved her will live on for generations to come. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, Bob, her loving husband of fifty-five years. She was the unconditional loving mother of Bethany (Mark) Bentley and Dawn (Aaron) Tuck. Mary will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Chelsa (Eric) Swiecicki, Christopher Bentley, and Jeffrey Bentley. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Hanna Swiecicki; brother, David (Carolyn) Walton; sister, Anne (Larry) McWhorter; in-laws, Jim (Donna) Ingram, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Mary was welcomed home to heaven by her grandson, Alexander Bentley, and father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Geraldine Ingram. Mary's family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Monday, April 4, 2016, Mary will be taken to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 206 Scheurmann St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 5:00 PM until the time of her 6:00 PM Celebration of Life. Cremation will follow and Mary will be laid to rest in the church's scattering garden at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Luke's United Methodist Church or Bay County Habitat for Humanity. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.

  5. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you Bob and all your family. We will forever miss Marys smile, that she always had no matter what, coming through those doors at Big Boy.

    From the Big Boy crew

  6. With Sympathy to the family, I met Mrs. “D” when I broke my arm in 9th grade and had to spend time working in the library at John Glenn. She was one of the nicest people I have ever met and was a great influence in my life. I still love going into a library and I always think of her when I do. Heaven is a better place with her in it! Diana (LaMere) LaBarge

  7. I don’t think I ever saw Mary without a smile! I first met her when I had Dawn in Girl Scouts many years ago. Later I worked with Mary at the library when I was a volunteer for Runners for Readers. We saw each other here and there through the years and I always enjoyed catching up with her. God’s blessings to all of you.

  8. As a server, It is a small number of people I can say, I am true excited to see a customer. However, i feel the folks at St. Lukes, Mary and Bob specificly are some of the nicest people I have met. Always smiling, listening to me be it a funny ramble or just complaining about this or that. Y’all really provided a support system for me and became like family. I mean we had breakfast together every Sunday. I miss those days. And Bob may peace be with you and your loved ones.

    Sincerely,
    John Sheneman

  9. Dear Bob and family, So sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. Her welcoming smile and fun sense of humor will be missed. Thinking of you during this time from our home in Germany. Love and prayers, Cathy Lynn and Brad Francke

    with love,

  11. Bob & Family – I am so sorry to learn of your loss. I knew Mary both as a librarian at Sage & also through United Methodist Women. She got me involved in Mission u of the North – then School of the North – & then she left me, as her term was up. She was always a positive person to be around & a good example for all.
