Mary L. Kern

Kern, Mary Louise - formerly of Saginaw, age 95, passed away at Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart, Michigan on Friday, August 26, 2016. Mary was born February 26, 1921 in Grayling to the late Henry H. and Marie (Larsen) Bucholz. She married Elmer Kern, Jr. June 19, 1943. He predeceased her December 21, 2010. Mary was a member of Faith Ev. Lutheran Church in Saginaw, where she participated in the women's group, Sunday school, church council, and the bereavement committee. She was the first car hop for A&W Restaurant on West Genesee Street in Saginaw. She later retired from Reid Paper Co. after 20 years of service. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She always found the good in everyone. Mary is survived by: Daughter, Jeannine M. (Todd) Holle; three grandsons: John Holle, Glenn Kern, and Jacob Kern; and many other loving family members and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, John A. Kern; two brothers, Henry L. Bucholz and Roderick J. Bucholz; and one sister, Norma Zoromski. A memorial service will take place at 12 Noon on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, 4432 Mackinaw Road in Saginaw. Pastor Nancy Steele will officiate. The family will receive visitors from 11AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings are suggested to the music ministries of Faith Ev. Lutheran Church (Bell Choir and Vocal Choir). Jeannine I wish I could be there today to celebrate Mary’s life. I’ve thought of her and your family over the years. I imagine her and Elmer’s joyfull reunion and beautiful music. My condolences and prayers.
