Michael John Stachowiak, 69, of Essexville, our dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend to many was born into eternal life on the morning of Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the Toni & Trish House. Mike was born in Bay City on July 25, 1945, the son of the late Chester and Geraldine (Rasdorf) Stachowiak. In 1964, Mike met the former Sandra Heinz. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 26, 1968. After honorably serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam, Mike began a career of public service with the Essexville Public Safety Department, retiring as Captain after thirty-two years. Mike treated everyone from all walks of life with respect, kindness, and fairness, and in return was deeply loved and respected. He was a proud member of the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, Police Officers Labor Council, American Legion, and was a police firearms instructor and expert marksman. He enjoyed deer hunting with his sons and grandson, Brendan, and friends, along with fishing for walleye on the Saginaw Bay, and salmon fishing in Ludington. In addition to his loving wife of forty-six years, Mike is survived by his three sons, Scott and wife, Aimee Stachowiak, Mark and wife, Linda Stachowiak, and Kevin and wife, Lindsay Stachowiak. He was the proud and loving grandfather of Brendan, Lydia, Lauren, Anya, Katie, and Ava and the brother of Richard and wife, Marilyn Stachowiak. Mike is also survived by his in-laws, Janet and husband, Eugene Graczyk, Judy and husband, Leonard Bobick, Sharon English, Gary and wife, Sherry Heinz, Robert and wife, Judy Heinz, Carl and wife, Jennifer Heinz, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Mike was welcomed home to heaven by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Adolph and Stella (Samyn) Heinz; sisters-in-law, Nancy and husband, Jerry Smith, and Cindy Heinz. Mike's family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for the Deceased at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Friday, July 24, 2015, Mike will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 9:00 AM until the time of his 10:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Toni & Trish House and Hospice Advantage for their compassionate care.   2. Today, I was saddened bythe news of my life long friends passing . Among other memories ,we played little league together at the young age of seven.As teens ee spent quality time together .As well,we both entered the Military! After the service,we stayed loyal friends with many life long memories to share! He will be sorly missed, Your friend Frank LaPan Jr. of Essexville.

  10. I grew up in Essexville while Mike was an officer, He was the kindest, Fairest man on the force. More than once his words guided me in the right direction. As a kid, He more than once gave me a break and a firm lecture as to where my behavior would lead me. I still carry some of his words with me today, And am a better man because of them. Rest in heaven Officer Stachowiak and thank you for your out standing service and the countless young people you helped to lead a better life as productive citizens.
