Milton Eugene Laleman, 90, of Essexville, our devoted, honorable and dedicated husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend was born into eternal life on the evening of Saturday, August 30, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region. Milt was born in Hampton Township on April 21, 1924, the son of the late Desire Laleman Jr. and Susie Pavlik Tobin. He graduated from Bay City Central High School, where he always remained proud of his jump rope record of 203 jumps in 60 seconds. A patriotic and dedicated man, Milt went on to proudly serve our country in the U.S. Army 286th Joint Assault Signal Company during World War II. On September 2, 1950, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Bergevin. Milt served for many years as a firefighter with the City of Bay City, where he retired as a lieutenant after twenty-four years of service. He was an avid camper, bowler and hunter, and enjoyed working in his backyard shop. Milt was a faithful parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist) and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2740. In 1964, Milt founded and became the president of the Travelin’ Wigwams Holiday Rambler Trailer Club. He also was the founder and owner of Big Bend Campground in Omer, as well as the founder of the Tuesday night Monitor Bowling League, that placed first in the state-wide Drewery’s Beer Bowling Tournament. Sara Cobb, a loving and compassionate caretaker, made it possible for Milt to remain in his home which was his final wish, and for which his family will be forever grateful. In addition to his parents, Milt was welcomed home to heaven by his brothers, Elmer Laleman and Richard Tobin, along with his Uncle Charles and Aunt Mary Laleman, who were his loving family after Milt’s father died when he was seven years old. Remembering Milt from many years ago when I worked with his wife Mary Lou at Michigan Bell in Bay City. He was a very nice man and everyone though he was so handsome. We send our deepest sympathy to the family.

We are so sorry for your loss. We hope a lifetime of great memories will give you comfort.
I am sad to hear of Uncle Milts passing. I know he is in a better place with all his trailer buddies. I will forever remember how much fun we had with him as kids. So sorry Matt, Michelle, Marcia and Aunt Mary Lou. Mine and my moms prayers are with all of you and your families at this time.
