Patricia Marie Berthiaume, 88, of Essexville, our loving, funny, energetic, and sometimes feisty wife, mother, and grandmother was born into eternal life on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region. Pat was born in Pinconning on December 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Arthur and Violette (Greenbird) Briggs. She graduated from St. Michael’s School in Pinconning and happened to meet a gentleman by the name of Donald Berthiaume while at a wedding reception. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on November 28, 1957, who survives. Their fifty-eight years blessed them with four children, Karen (Jon) Scofield, Denise (Dave) House, Mary Beth (James) Hargrove, and Jim Berthiaume. A talented musician, Pat enjoyed being a member of the Midland Folk Society. Her instrument of choice was the hammered dulcimer, and both Pat and Don could be found participating in the River of Time with their band, “The Singing Strings” for many years. Always on the go, Pat enjoyed camping the United States from the U.P. of Michigan to Mexico. She was an excellent singer, loved to sew and bake, and cherished her weekly trips to the casino. Above all, Pat was a beloved wife and wonderful mother who will be deeply missed. In addition to her husband and children, Pat leaves to carry on her legacy, her grandchildren: Valerie Lintner, Kyla Walker, Nathan House, Alyssa Hugo, Shauna Rollf, Meagan Berthiaume, McKenzie Berthiaume, Chandler Berthiaume, Logan Berthiaume; 13 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Bill and Shirley Berthiaume, Duane and Carol Berthiaume, Michael and Melba Berthiaume, Jane Valdez, LuAnne Long, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Pat was welcomed home to heaven by her siblings: Margaret Bloomingberg, Helen LaBarge, Ed Briggs, Ilah Piotrowski, Jane Phalin, Betty Wizorek, three nephews, and many in-laws. Pat’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Pat at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Saturday, June 4, 2016, Pat will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 9:00 AM until the time of her 10:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with cremation to follow. Memorial contributions in memory of Pat may be directed to the wishes of the family. 1. aunt Pat taught me to play a classical song when I was 9 years old and I can still play it to this day. I could not read music but just watching her and auntie teaching me I got it done. A memory I can never forget. And her receipe for rhubarb pie the best/////

  2. My aunt Pat was the kind of person who always cared I will miss her and wish the family all my love and sorrow at this time.
    See you in church

  3. You were my neighbor and my friend. You helped me thru so many emergencies with my children, all I had to do was yell PAT and you came running over to dress their wounds which were many. I love you and am sorry you’re gone, but I know Jesus is waiting for you with open arms. Goodbye dear friend

  4. Pat will be dearly missed. Have met her through family weddings, and baptisms of some of her greats. Ours prayers go out to the family. We will have a Mass said for her.
