Pearl M. Kukla

Pearl M. (Mix) Kukla was called home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2014, at the age of 72. She was born November 3, 1941, in Bay City, to the late Milford and Helen (Jozwiak) Mix Sr. Pearl married the love of her life, Ronald D. Kukla in St. Hyacinth Church on November 7, 1959. Pearl enjoyed her family to the fullest and was a master of all trades from sewing to baking cookies with her grandkids. Pearl also enjoyed gardening and traveling. Surviving are her husband, Ronald; her children, Michael (Dawn) Kukla and Kelly K. Shaheen. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, Jacob and Jason Kukla, Sarah E. Shaheen, Bryan (Mandy) Lyons, Mike Lyons and Stacie Lyons; and also for her great-grandchildren, Brantley Richardson and Owen Lyons. Also surviving are two sisters, Nancy J. Mix and Patricia (Don) Holthe of California; one niece, Patrice Mix and four nephews, Robert (Wendy) Mix III, John (Sheree) Mix, Daryl (Jill) Mix, and Gary (Sandy) Hall of California. She was preceded in death by one brother, M. Robert (Sharon) Mix Jr. and one nephew, John J. Hall. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at McLaren Special Care Facility, especially Mallory, and to the staff at Heartland Hospice, especially Emily and Melissa. On Thursday, October 16, 2014, Pearl will be taken to Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish (St. Hyacinth), 1515 Cass Ave., Bay City, where visiting will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of her 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Father Rick Filary will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Pearl may be directed to the University of Michigan Cancer Research Center.
