Passed away Saturday November 20, 2010 following a brief illness. Age 86 years. Richard Wellington Smith was born February 27, 1924 in Muskegon to the late Arthur and Ruth (Sandine) Smith. He married Marguerite Forbes May 10, 1985. She survives him. Richard was a master tool & die and pattern maker. He managed Miller Mold Co. in Saginaw for many years. He also served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a P-38 pilot during World War II. Richard enjoyed golf and building and flying ultra-light aircraft.Surviving besides his wife are six children and their spouses, Terry and Jennifer Smith of Florida, Thomas and Mary Smith of Saginaw, Timothy and Karen Smith of Kawkawlin, Theodore Smith of Dallas, TX, Sherry and Bill Moore of Austin, TX, and Bonnie and Roger Brothers of Fort Wayne, IN; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Smith of Muskegon; and one sister, Patricia (Merle) Timm of Lansing.A memorial service will take place 2PM Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home on S. Midland Road (M47). Rev. Mark Buckert will officiate. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the funeral home from 1PM until the time of service.Memorial offerings are suggested to Brian’s House of Bay City or the charity of your choice.
