Robert G. Jahn

Passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010. Age 87 years. Robert George Jahn was born August 24, 1922 in Saginaw to Albert H. and Anna M. (Bauer) Jahn. He married Dorothea “Dorothy” Kolb on July 10, 1948. They shared 62 years together. She survives him. Mr. Jahn was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Saginaw. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was a member of VFW Post 9809 serving as bugler and other duties. Bob was also a member of the Saginaw Area Concert Band and the Frankentrost German Band. He loved his family, and enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was a chemist at Dow Chemical for 35 years in Research and Development studies. Surviving besides his wife, he leaves two sons and one daughter; Doug (Michele) Jahn and their children Michael and Kristen Jahn and Nate and Nick Hopp. Bruce (Cindy) Jahn and their children Matthew and Stephan Jahn. Carol (Ned) Cook and their children Rachel, Jenna and Molly Cook, and other loving family members and many friends. Bob was preceded in death by his son David in 1976, and by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral service will take place 11AM Wednesday, Jan. 27 at St. John Lutheran Church, 915 Federal at Second Sts. Rev. Paulette Cummings will officiate with entombment to follow at Oakwood Mausoleum. Military honors will be observed at the mausoleum. Friends and family will gather at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1-4PM and 6-9PM, and at the church on Wednesday one hour before the funeral. A military memorial will take place 6PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
