Robert (Bob) J. Anderson, 86, of Essexville, our kind, loving, caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend was born into eternal life peacefully on July 15, 2019 at Nottingham Place in Midland, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Bay City on July 26, 1932, the only child of the late Robert John (Ross) Anderson and Anna Martha (Van Hamlin) Anderson. He attended St. John’s High School, graduating in 1951. Through a mutual friend, Bob met the former Carol Ann Lindebaum. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on September 12, 1970.  Bob worked for Rosenbury’s Furniture in Bay City doing furniture refinishing and repair work. Later, he worked for the Bay County Division on Aging, delivering meals to senior citizens until he retired.  Bob enjoyed history, genealogy, furniture refinishing, and in his younger years, even had his own band, “The Melody Five,” where he was the lead trumpet player. For many years, Bob coached women’s softball in the summer months for White’s Drive-In, winning the 1965 Class D State Championship. He also enjoyed perennial gardening, going out to eat, taking drives up north, cherishing family events such as his grandchildren’s birthdays, watching wildlife and spending time in the summer evenings on their yard swing with Carol. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Parish. He will be fondly remembered for his gentle and considerate ways and missed dearly by his wife of over 48 years, Carol Ann Anderson, and their children: Elizabeth (Dr. Charles) McLaren, Robert Linden Anderson, and Brian Joseph Anderson; grandchildren, Ian Ross McLaren, Anson August McLaren; special brother and sister-in-law, James & Kim Lindebaum, along with many other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his in-laws Joseph August & Elizabeth June Lindebaum. A visitation for Bob will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM vigil at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Monday, July 22, 2019, he will lie in state from 9:00 AM until his 10:00 AM Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Parish (St. Mary of the Assumption Church), 607 E. South Union St., Bay City. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
