Robert James Ludwig, 77, of Saginaw Twp., our kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on the evening of Sunday, October 6, 2019 at The Hospice House of Shiawassee County in Owosso. Bob was born in Saginaw on November 6, 1941, the son of the late Melvin and Lorraine Ludwig. He was a graduate of Saginaw High School and went on to work for General Motors, where he retired as a Tinsmith after thirty years of service. Bob was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Through mutual connections, Bob met the former Sharon Gust. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on February 10, 1990. Those who knew Bob will forever remember his love of golfing and traveling, especially to Arizona. He will be deeply missed, yet lovingly remembered for years to come. Bob leaves to carry on his legacy, his wife of nearly thirty years, Sharon Ludwig; his children, James Ludwig; Stewart (Nina) Heiler, Lisa (Terry) Nardone, son-in-law, Brian Wissner; grandchildren, Thomas (Haley) Wissner, Diane Ludwig, Zak (Haley) Ludwig, Marci Getzie, Bryce Haley, Aaron Haley, and Kody Haley; great-grandchildren, Dimitri & Sophia Getzie; brothers, Dale (Susan) Ludwig and Dean Ludwig; sister, Mary Ann Elbers, and in-laws, Robert Gust, Daniel (Connie) Helpap, and Bonnie (Ken) Metivia, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Bob was welcomed home to heaven by his first wife, the former Diana Horner; daughter, Jennifer Wissner; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Ludwig, and brother-in-law, Edward Elbers. Bob’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 10:00 AM until Bob’s 12:00 Noon Funeral Ceremony at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway Rd., Saginaw Twp. Deacon Jeff Rauschert will officiate with interment to be held privately. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church, or The Hospice House of Shiawassee County, whom the family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to for their compassionate care. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski’s (formerly Reitz-Herzberg), 1550 Midland Rd., between State & Gratiot.
