Robert "Rob" Witting, 68, of Essexville, our friendly and easy going husband, father and grandpa passed away suddenly on the evening of Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Rob was born in Dearborn on March 19, 1946, the son of the late Bernard and Frances (Burge) Witting. He graduated from Brighton High School and went on to attend Michigan State University, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Communications. Throughout life, Rob always remained a constant MSU football and basketball fan. Rob went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam, where he also was a chaplain's assistant. On September 12, 1970, Rob was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Jeanette Minchuk. Rob worked as an Account Manager for General Foods Corp. and also spent many years in retail sales. He was an active member of the SBRC Boat Club and enjoyed woodworking, model ships and radio controlled cars. Rob is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Jeanette Witting. He was the unconditional loving father of Scott and wife, Kyle Witting of Whitestown, IN., Kevin Witting of Athens, GA. and the loving grandpa of Luca Witting. Also surviving are his in-laws, Gerrie and husband, Tim Springton of Chandler, AZ, John and wife, Patti Minchuk of Merrillville, IN. and several nephews. In addition to his parents, Rob was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Rebecca and father and mother-in-law, John and Bernice Minchuk. Rob's family will be present to receive visitors on Monday, October 27, 2014 from 1:00 PM until the time of his 2:00 PM Funeral Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Mrs. Kathy Madziar will officiate with private interment to be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
