Saundra Sue Schmidt

Saundra Sue Schmidt, 77, of Fairgrove, our caring, creative, fiesty, and independent mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on January 11, 2019 at New Hope Bay, with her family by her side. Sandy was born on March 26, 1941, in Rhodes, the daughter of the late, Leo Ray and Bernetta (Klender) Lyons. Sandy graduated from Arthur Hill High School. On May 27, 1966, Sandy married the love of her life, Kenneth E. Schmidt. Sadly, he predeceased her. Sandy was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, reading, ceramics, baking, traveling-especially to Disney with her family, going on riverboat cruises, listening to music, sewing, knitting, and above all, spending time with her grandchildren. Sandy leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Jennifer (Scott) Altizer, George Neal Clemens, and Angela (Shawn) Ryan; grandchildren, Nicole Altizer, Nuala Ryan, Devlin Ryan, and Fineen Ryan; great-grandchildren, Sofiya Noelle, and Temperance June; her sister, Barbara McGuire, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Sandy was welcomed home to heaven by her brother Robert Lyons. Sandy's family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 10:00 AM until the time of her 11:00 AM Celebration of Life at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Pastor Joseph Atchinson will officiate with a Celebration of Life Reception to follow in The Wesley Room at Skorupski's. Interment will be held in Gilford Twp.
