Sharon Kay Almond, 68, of Essexville, our independent, intelligent, and quick-witted mom, daughter, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 1, 2016 at her home. Sharon was born in Bay City on August 17, 1947, the daughter of Stuart V. Nicholson and Gerry (Schaefer) Kaczorowski. She was known for her excellent green thumb and loved her yellow roses. Sharon enjoyed reading, antiques, bicycling, cooking, and was an active volunteer in the Saginaw Public Schools and her Center Ridge Arms community. Her resilient ways made her a devoted mother and grandmother who was proud of her family. Sharon will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered for generations to come. Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Leonard and Gerry Kaczorowski; children, Patrick (Michelle) Katz, Steven Katz, Jill (Kevin) Allen, John Katz, and Nicholas (Alice) Almond; grandchildren, Jacob, Jamie, Caleb, Dalessa, Gabriel, Isaac, and Lilly. Also surviving is her sister, Melissa Nicholson; long-time companion, Tony Castaneda, and cousin, Janice Dzurka. Sharon was welcomed home to heaven by her husband, Robert W. Almond; son, Michael Katz; father, Stuart V. Nicholson; brother, Stuart V. Nicholson, Jr. and her mother-in-law, Verlyn (Almond) Davis. Sharon's family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 10:00 AM until the time of her 12:00 Noon Tribute Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N.
