Sheryl Ann (Woods) Banaszak, 68, of Bay City, our strong, compassionate, determined, independent, and most loving mom, Nana, sister, and loyal friend passed away on the evening of Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Sheryl was born on December 21, 1954 to the late Edward J. Woods and Rhea I. Ellevich in Bay City.
Sheryl loved to socialize and be with people. She had a talented singing voice and enjoyed putting it to use singing with System 3 Productions and karaoke nights in town. Sheryl also loved to ride her motorcycle and took many trips with family and friends. All of these things she enjoyed, but her favorite was spending time with her family and friends. Sheryl made her home welcome for anyone who needed a place to stay or a warm smile. Her kind and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of her family for many years to come.
To carry on her legacy, Sheryl leaves her children, Larry Valencia (Christine Nephew) and Melanie (Kyle) Ramsden; grandchildren, Kayla Worden (fiance, Emily Huntman), Courtney Mielens (fiance, Blake Stark), LillyAhnna Avarado (Gabe Pepple), Jordyn Peterson (fiance, Madison Mehlhose), and Cameron Valencia; brother, Terry (Sharon) Woods; dear friend, John Martin; nieces, Cathy (Jamie) Rowell, Jennifer Woods, Baylee Light, Breana Light, Kristina Woods, Lori(Barry) Davis and Lindsey Davis; nephews, Jerry (Lisa) Woods, Dillon (Dawn) Woods, Eric Davis, Steve(Becky) Rosebrock, John Rosebrock, James Rosebrock, along with many cousins and close friends and her four legged companions, Riley and Charlie. In addition to her parents, Sheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Valencia; brothers, Jerry “Butch” Woods and Larry Woods; sister, Donna Rosebrock, along with many aunts and uncles.
Sheryl’s family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 11:00 AM until Sheryl’s 12:00 PM Funeral Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. Interment to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family, c/o Kyle Ramsden.
