Theo Corbin

Theo Bessie Corbin, 88, of Bay City, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, January 31, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region. Theo was born in Gratiot County on July 21, 1925, the daughter of the late Albert and Myrtle (Miller) Snow. She was united in marriage to Charles J. Corbin. Together, they recently celebrated their sixty-ninth wedding anniversary. Theo proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy, where she was a highly respected airplane mechanic. She would go on to work for the U.S. Postal Service, where she was the first woman Clerk/Carrier in the State of Michigan. Theo was a vibrant, independent woman who took on the added responsibility of being the Union Representative for her fellow Letter Carriers, defending their rights and holding management to the National and Local contracts jointly signed by the highest levels of Union and Management. Theo loved driving and traveling. She and Charles drove a variety of motor homes (she always insisted on driving) around the U.S.A. Theo loved life and loved her family dearly. She was a fantastic baker to the point where family and friends would flock to her house to partake and rave about the goodies she made. She was an avid volleyball player and bowler. Theo will always be remembered for her devoted, loving and caring ways. Theo is survived by her husband, Charles and children, Michael and wife, Charlene Corbin of Kawkawlin, Betty Lou Corbin of Saginaw, Robert M. Corbin of Essexville, Janice L. Corbin Kocks of Essexville, Christopher J. Corbin of Bay City and daughter-in-law, Judy Corbin. She was the loving grandma of fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Theo is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation will take place and a Memorial Ceremony will be held at a later date. Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. 1. Coming to Michigan in the summer with my dad to see family including grandma was a time i always waited for. i remember going huckleberry picking and the garden they had at their house on Lincoln. i remember grandma and grandpa coming to California in their camper and visiting us. When i moved here in 2011, grandma said ” root for Michigan teams” and so even though i will always be a San Diego fan I will root for Michigan as well. Grandma was a great cook and I i will always remember her food .especially her peanut butter pie. Most of all I will remember that I loved Grandma and the memories I have of her will fill the empty spots I have now that she is gone. I love ya, Grandma. I always will. Rob Corbin

  2. Two of the most loving people to ever be a part of my life! She was the sweetest Grandma anyone could ask for! Love and prayers sent from her step-grandchildren in GA.

  4. Mrs. Corbin was like a 2nd Mom to me during my high schools years. She listened to me and was very supportive. This past fall she came over and taught me how to make boiled dinner and homemade biscuits. I loved spending the day with her and Janice. She will be missed by her wonderful family.
