Thomas Bernard Damphousse, 79, of Essexville, our loyal, faithful, and spiritual husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend was born into eternal life on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region. Tom was born in Windsor, Ontario on June 11, 1936, the son of the late Eli and Sophia (Rivard) Damphousse. Through relatives, Tom met the former Eileen Catherine Gaunt, who survives. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on July 3, 1965 at Precious Blood Church in Detroit. Tom proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He found a twenty dollar bill during his time in the service, and decided to turn it in. The Air Force told him, “since you are so honest, we will put you in charge of the petty cash fund.” This led to Tom becoming an accountant. After many years of service, Tom retired from General Motors (Fischer Guide). In his free time, Tom enjoyed bird watching, euchre, singing, cooking, and riding his bicycle. A devout Catholic, Tom found great peace and comfort in praying the rosary and was a parishioner of All Saints Parish. He was a member of the Indian Guides and the Knights of Columbus. Tom’s biggest life accomplishment was his family. He worked and raised his family in Roseville for 30 years. Tom and Eileen’s fifty-year marriage blessed them with three children, Anne Marie and husband, Todd Wetters, Thomas and wife, Catherine Damphousse, and Brian and wife, Pahola Damphousse. He will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Jonathan, James, Joseph, Kathleen, and Anna Rose Wetters; Lillian Damphousse, Victoria Damphousse, and his siblings, Paul Damphousse, Leah Lebert, and Lorrain Schneider. In addition to his parents, Tom was welcomed home to heaven by his granddaughter, Sarah Wetters; brothers, Fred, Pete, and Alex Damphousse, and sisters, Olive Ducharme and Eva Philpott. Tom's family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 6:00 PM Vigil for Tom at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Saturday, March 5, 2016, Tom will be taken to All Saints Parish (Church of St. Boniface), 510 N. Lincoln St., Bay City, where visiting will continue from 1:00 PM until the time of his 2:00 PM Funeral Liturgy. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow in The Wesley Room at Skorupski's. The Rite of Committal will be held privately in St. Patrick Cemetery on Monday, March 7, 2016. Memorial contributions may be directed to All Saints Parish. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
