Timothy Bruce VanTol, 54, of Hampton Twp., our hardworking, loving, strong, and kindhearted husband, father, Papa Tim, son, brother, uncle, and friend went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, December 11, 2015 at McLaren Bay Region after a courageous battle with cancer. Tim was born in Bay City on July 30, 1961, the son of Virgil and Eileen (Schlicker) VanTol. He graduated from Garber High School with the Class of 1979 and was a dedicated farmer. He later worked for Medler Electric and Alro Steel. Through friends, Tim met the former Sherry Hopp. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on November 11, 2012. Tim was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting and most of all, watching (and sometimes yelling at) his Detroit Tigers. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends for generations to come. Tim leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sherry VanTol and children, Crystal Yenglin and her fiancé, Joe Miller, and Kevin and wife, Brooke Yenglin. He was the most awesome "Papa Tim" of Natalie Yenglin and Lincoln Miller, and will forever be missed by his mother, Eileen VanTol. Also surviving are his siblings, Kathleen and husband, Charles Ward, Lynn and husband, Dave Malusi and Randy and wife, Lori VanTol; nieces and nephew, Heather, Charlie, Hope, Denise, Lesley, along with many extended family members. Tim was welcomed home to heaven by his father, Virgil VanTol; father-in-law, William Hopp; mother-in-law, Madelin Hopp and step-mother-in-law, Verna Hopp. Tim's family will be present to receive visitors on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 10:00 AM until the time of his 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1705 Nebobish Ave., Essexville. Rev. Theodore Voll will officiate with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Save Brian's House or Pilgrim Lutheran Church. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Regina, Trent, and the entire McLaren Hospice team for their compassionate care. Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.

  1. Tim, you fought a long hard fight and left this world way too soon. Say “Hi” to your dad for me and be sure and catch the biggest fish 😀

  2. Sherry I am so sorry for your loss. Tim fought a brave fight for years and now is with
his Lord. Praying for you and your family.

    Carol Fogelsonger

  3. Sherry, I am so very sorry to hear that Tim has passed. Take comfort in your happy memories and in the many friends and family members you have. Here for you.

  4. I am so sorry to hear about Tim. I know he fought a long hard battle. We grew up together as kids across the road from each other. We had alot of fun and created many memories. Randy I’m sure you remember the hundreds of baseball games we played, floating down the ditch on the Leaky Teaky, camping in the backyard, watching the Tigers and many other things we did. Those were fun times in my life and I am glad I got to share them with Tim. I guess you could say he is part of who I am today. Thanks Tim for all the great times I will never forget!!! I send my prayers to all of you.
    Take Care Dan Yagiela

  5. Sherry, I am so sorry to learn of Tim’s passing. You and your family continue to be in my prayers. Live, Laugh and Love
