IRISH, Verna C. - of Saginaw, age 91, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Gloria of Dei Lutheran Church, 5250 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw. Pastor Homer Mosley officiating. Entombment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family will receive visitors at the Reitz-Herzberg Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2PM until 8PM and on Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Gloria of Dei Lutheran Church. Verna was born May 4, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late John and Meta (Koehler) Wetzel. She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1944. Verna married Harold Irish. He preceded her in death in 2004. She retired from Quest Diagnostic as a bloodwork currier after 15 years. Verna was a 32 year charter member of Gloria of Dei Church. She was a member of the Birch Run VFW Post #7542 ladies auxiliary. She also was very involved in her sewing group. Verna enjoyed planting flowers, bowling, doing crafts, and coloring in her adult coloring books. In her earlier years, she enjoyed her cats and dachshund dogs. Surviving are: Nieces: Laura (Ken) Doyle and Sandy Richardson; Nephew, Alan (Kimberly) Fischer, and several grandnieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Wetzel and Harold Wetzel, and sisters, June Fischer, and Dorothy Lane.   1. Aunt Verna was a wonderful lady and I will dearly miss her. She loved her Tiger ball games and told me how she listened to the games with her dad when she was younger, she never liked to miss a game. So glad I was able to visit with her last week and have a good chat.

  2. RIP Aunt Verna. She was a special lady and a special Aunt that loved her nieces and nephews. You will be missed by all the family and her friends. She loved listening to the Detroit Tiger games. She loved her Church and her God.
