Wayne T. Savage, Sr., a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region, age 74. Wayne was born in Bay City on May 26, 1938, the son of the late Thomas and Marjorie (Groff) Savage. On February 20, 1960, Wayne was united in marriage to his loving and devoted wife, the former Shirley Lenhart. An extremely hardworking man, Wayne was a dedicated employee of Local 1098, and also worked for Savage Heating for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, coaching softball with his best buddy, Murphy Allabaugh, gardening and cheering on the Detroit Tigers. His loveable and caring nature will always be cherished by all who knew Wayne. Wayne leaves behind his dear wife of over 53 years, Shirley Savage and son, Wayne T. Savage, Jr. and wife, Laurie of Whittemore. He was the proud and adoring grandpa of Bethany Savage (significant other, Jeremy Allen), Sarah Savage (significant other, Justin McKenzie) and Eric Savage, all of Whittemore. Also surviving are Wayne’s siblings, Byron and wife, Sue Savage of Traverse City, June and husband, George Howden of Texas, Harry and wife, Marilyn Savage of Essexville and Barbara VanWormer of Bay City; mother-in-law, Alice Oswald and in-laws, Thomas and wife, Suzette Lenhart of Bay City, JoAnn and husband, Ralph Gerzeski of Bay City and Jerry and wife, Mary Lenhart of Essexville. In addition to his parents, Wayne was welcomed home to heaven by his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy & Glen Solomon; brother-in-law, Don VanWormer and father-in-law, Thomas Lenhart. In accordance with Wayne’s wishes, no services will be held.
